Looking Back At Season 3

by Dexter Fan on January 21, 2009

Season 3 came to an end a few weeks and it has been a good season. There were twists and surprises here and there. Dexter made his first true friend - Miguel Prado,  which turns out was as demented as him. They played a game of cat and mouse where each trying to gain advantage over the other controlling them.

I pondered before if Miguel was another monster in the making. It turns out that Miguel was already a monster inside an unhatched egg. It took some guidance from Dexter to let the monster out of the egg. But, Dexter never wanted to turn Miguel into the vile killing monster. He wanted a “neat” and “principle-based” monster like him… eventually, Dexter had to let go of Miguel (permanently).

In the end of the season, Dexter got married to Rita, his long-time girlfriend… and with the baby on the way. What future does our favorite serial killer hold? Will he get a baby monster in his own image? We will just have to wait and see.

Is Miguel Prado A Monster In The Making?

by Dexter Fan on November 9, 2008

Season 3 of Dexter introduces a new character Miguel Prado. After a series of events, Miguel discovers that Dexter has the capacity to take out the trash — criminals that slip through the justice system. An act that he himself wanted to do (in his mind) but unable to.  So as the series progresses, he works with Dexter taking out criminals. Is Dexter about to create another creature of darkness created from is own image. A creature that has a strong sense of justice and follows the code as he did. Unlike Brian Moser and Lila West, Miguel is as normal and of sound mind as the rest of us. In fact Miguel is the Assistant District Attorney in Miami, successful and ambitious. But due to his strong sense of justice, almost harsh enforcement of the law he finds the justice system is lacking. He is frustrated and feel he can do more, even (according to Miguel) sleep better at night.

The beauty of the show is that it delves into the human psyche and showing that in each one of us has a dormant dark passenger. In this case, Dexter may have unlocked the door to let the dark passenger within Miguel Prado out.

Dexter may have whetted Miguel Prado’s thrist for blood. As mentioned in previous EverybodyLovesDexter.com posts, Dexter is evolving. And like any creature, there comes a stage where it will clone itself. Will Dexter now become the master and Miguel be his student (like how Harry trained Dexter)? Will Dexter’s new creation be repulsed with what it has become or will it become corrupted and ultimately be swallowed by the darkness? Only time will tell.
